This Cookie Policy applies to the website sarone.info, operated by Sarone Almanac, an independent editorial publication based at 53 Chiswell Street, London EC1Y 4SA, United KingdomLondon, United Kingdom. This document explains what cookies are, which cookies this site uses, and how readers can control their cookie preferences.

Sarone Almanac is an independent editorial publication focused on everyday wellness practices. The publication is not affiliated with any commercial, governmental, or institutional body. Cookie use on this site is limited to what is necessary for functionality and anonymous site-usage analysis.

01

What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on a visitor's device when they visit the site. They are widely used to make websites function correctly, to remember user preferences, and to provide information to the site operator about how the site is being used.

Cookies do not contain personally identifiable information on their own. They typically contain a unique identifier, the name of the site that set the cookie, and an expiry date. Some cookies expire when a browser session ends (session cookies). Others persist on the device for a defined period (persistent cookies).

First-party cookies are set by the website being visited. Third-party cookies are set by external services — for example, analytics providers or embedded content platforms — operating on the site.

02

Cookies This Site Uses

Sarone Almanac uses a limited number of cookies, grouped into the categories below. The site does not use advertising cookies, behavioural profiling cookies, or cookies linked to social-media tracking.

Cookie Name Type Purpose Duration
sa_cookie_consent Functional Stores the reader's cookie consent preference so the banner is not shown on every page load. 12 months
sa_session Functional Maintains a session identifier for the current browsing session. Expires when the browser is closed. Session
_ga Analytics Set by Google Analytics. Used to distinguish unique visitors to the site using an anonymised identifier. 2 years
_ga_* Analytics Set by Google Analytics 4. Stores and counts page views for session analysis. IP anonymisation is enabled. 2 years
_gid Analytics Set by Google Analytics. Used to distinguish users across a 24-hour period. 24 hours
03

Functional Cookies

Functional cookies are required for basic site functioning. Sarone Almanac uses two functional cookies: one to store cookie consent preferences and one session identifier. These are first-party cookies set by sarone.info.

The consent preference cookie (sa_cookie_consent) records whether a reader has accepted, partially accepted, or selected functional-only cookies via the cookie banner. Without this cookie, the consent banner would reappear on every page load.

The session cookie (sa_session) is a standard session identifier that enables basic site navigation to function correctly. It contains no personal data and expires automatically when the browser is closed.

04

Analytics Cookies

Sarone Almanac uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how readers navigate the site — which articles attract the most visits, which pages readers arrive from, and how long is spent on each page. This information is used to improve editorial decisions about content coverage.

Google Analytics is configured with IP anonymisation enabled. This means the final segment of each visitor's IP address is removed before the data is processed, making it impossible to identify individuals. The data collected is aggregated and statistical in nature.

Analytics cookies are only set if a reader has accepted analytics cookies via the cookie banner. Readers who select Functional Only will not have analytics cookies set.

Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted. Full details of Google's data handling are available at policies.google.com/privacy.

05

Third-Party Cookies

In addition to the analytics cookies described above, the contact page of Sarone Almanac includes an embedded Google Maps frame showing the location of the editorial office. Google Maps may set its own cookies if the reader interacts with the map. These cookies are governed by Google's own privacy and cookie policies.

The site uses several third-party JavaScript libraries loaded from content delivery networks (CDNs) — including jQuery, Swiper, and AOS (Animate On Scroll). These libraries do not set cookies and do not collect personal data. They are loaded to enable site interface features such as scroll animations and image sliders.

Sarone Almanac does not embed social-media follow or share buttons. Accordingly, the site does not carry cookies from Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, LinkedIn, or similar platforms.

06

Managing Your Cookie Preferences

When visiting Sarone Almanac for the first time, a cookie consent banner appears at the bottom of the page offering three options:

  • Accept All — functional cookies and analytics cookies are set.
  • Accept Partial — functional cookies and limited analytics are set. Full tracking identifiers are not stored.
  • Functional Only — only the two functional cookies are set. No analytics cookies are placed.

Readers can change their preference at any time by clicking Cookie Settings in the site footer. This reopens the banner and allows a new selection to be made.

Cookies can also be managed directly through browser settings. All major browsers provide controls for viewing, blocking, and deleting cookies:

  • Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Cookies and site data

Note that blocking all cookies via browser settings may affect the functioning of some site features, including the retention of consent preferences (which means the cookie banner may reappear on each visit).

07
